Confirmation

Confirmation is the second sacrament of initiation of the Catholic faith.

(The first is baptism; second confirmation; and the third is the Eucharist).
Jesus gave us the sacrament of confirmation on Easter Sunday when he breathed on the apostles the Gift of the Holy Spirit, and then again on Pentecost.

At confirmation we are strengthened by the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit:
  • Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, Fear of the Lord.
The "Fruits of the Holy Spirit" are:
  • Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Generosity, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Modesty, Self-control, Chastity.
Confirmation is celebrated at St. Agnes once every two years by appointment with the Bishop of Baton Rouge.

Preparation is held through our Parish School of Religion -PSR program, grades ten - twelve.
